Optimizing the database
I had my web host move my database to somewhere with more space (it was almost out of space!) and now this morning I’m adding a few indexes to a few tables that have been performing poorly (the Patron page and the Eternity page, in particular).
The site might be slow for the next hour or so as I add these indexes. Let me know if you encounter any problems.
Update 12:42pm: The new indexes on the table are taking a lot longer than I thought they would. In the meantime, please make sure your entries are fully saved before leaving the site. And, if you can, rather than do your words now, try coming back in a couple hours. I’ll update here when things are running smoothly again.
Update 4:12pm: The indexes are mostly in place. The database is still under heavy load, so I’ll be keeping an eye on it. Let me know if you notice any weirdness!
